What This Year Means For Our Team
It’s been great to have time off during the Christmas holidays and I was very fortunate to have had the chance to soak up some sun in Bermuda! However, some of my friends have expressed that they are now feeling the ‘January Blues’. I think that’s the case for a lot of people at the start of the year but thankfully I’m looking at things differently.
By having the chance to recharge, reflect and refocus before returning to work definitely has its benefits. One for them being an optimistic state of mind, fueled by energy and adrenaline. I call this feeling the ‘January Highs.’
And it’s already been a busy, high flying start for Solisco with 2018 looking bright.
Education at the Forefront
Here at Solisco, we have always been passionate about sharing our knowledge on the subject of E-mobility and we have a strong belief that it should be taught in schools, colleges and universities; since it carries future career prospects and provides many learning opportunities to the new generations.
Up until now, there has been a lack of initiatives that move this topic forward systematically in teaching at Universities.
However, the Research and Transfer Centre “Sustainability and Climate Change Management” at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, is working on a new project ‘Digital Learning and E-mobility’. This project is being performed as part of the Hamburg Open On-line University initiative.
They too believe that the training of university students is very important for the E-mobility industry in Germany and throughout Europe.
Earlier this month, I met with Professor. Dr Jana Dresow in Hamburg. Solisco was asked to be a part of the process by providing our insights and support to help create the modules for this course.
Here in the UK, we have also been involved in some very interesting discussions with the combined authorities of the UK’s major cities and it has been a great chance to be learn more as well as share some of our expertise. Of course, decarbonisation, air quality and congestion were the main topics.
Unsurprisingly, electric vehicles came up as an enabler, along with unlocking barriers such as educating and ensuring sustainable infrastructure is implemented for it to take off successfully. You can read more here about one of the workshops we attended, hosted by Equity.
UK’s leading Hotel and Supermarket Chains
Solisco has been involved in early discussions with some of the UK’s leading hotel and supermarket chains.
“We are looking forward to playing a vital role in helping those organisations lower their carbon footprint and encourage the uptake of low emission vehicles by having the correct charging infrastructure in place. ” As quoted by one of our clients:
“The Solisco EV-Port is a one-stop-shop solution that ticks all of our green boxes!”
If you have a suggestion of who else we should be talking with, please do share our details.
In the usual rat-race that many of us experience in business, it’s important to remind and allow ourselves the time to enjoy our business. And so, we have booked some exciting events in coming months.
First of all, we are making a fully-electric road trip from central UK all the way up to Oslo Norway, for the Nordic Electric Vehicle Summit. Norway is a renowned world-leader in establishing a predictable and ambitious EV policy framework and the EV market is about to enter the mass market stage 5-10 years ahead of all other countries in Europe and the rest of the world.
This unique experience is essential for other countries, cities and industries that wants to achieve zero emission in the transport sector. Look out for our blog in March when we’ll deliver our insights.
Secondly, we are thrilled to be travelling to Canada to attend the Energy Disruptors Event in May.
‘The world’s boldest energy trailblazers will collide in Calgary to redefine future energy. For the very first time, industry thought leaders from every aspect of the energy value chain will UNITE. For two full days, the Oil and Gas industry will join forces with the influencers at the forefront of energy transformation. Together we will cross industry and policy barriers, break restraints on thought and harness the powerful potential of human ingenuity and technology. Together we will accelerate game-changing energy solutions on a global scale.’
Sir. Richard Branson will be one of the many interesting speakers at the conference and we are delighted to be attending this event. Again, we will share our experiences with you along the way!
So, with plenty to be getting on with and to look forward to over the next twelve months, we are thoroughly looking forward to seeing what the year ahead brings. If you would like to get in touch with us at all, then head over to our website. Be sure to keep an eye out for our articles every month.
