GOVERNMENT AGREES LANDMARK SECTOR DEAL
Last week, the government announced they have agreed a landmark sector deal, which will establish the UK as ‘World Leader in Future Mobility’.
Business and Energy Secretary, Greg Clark, unveiled the deal, which includes up to £32 million of new joint funding for an industry-led supply chain competitiveness programme. This will help grow the UK supply chain as well as making it internationally competitive.
The government also confirmed their latest £26.4 million investment, match-funded by industry, in 3 cutting-edge low carbon vehicle projects involving Ford, GKN and Jaguar Land Rover.
This is the first Automotive Sector Deal between the government and industry, and is thought to boost investment in emerging technology. The deal will also establish the UK’s leadership in meeting the future of mobility and Clean Growth Grand Challenges.

“In the next 10 years, the sector will see more change than in the previous hundred. From the engines that power our cars, to the way we control them and our attitudes to owning them, technology is changing what the industry looks like and where money can be made,” Greg Clark, Business and Energy Secretary.
The Sector Deal also included a number of long-term joint commitments in order to achieve future plans, including:
- Low-carbon automotive technologies
- Automotive research and development
- Transitioning to ultra-low and zero emission vehicles
- Connected autonomous vehicle (CAV) technology
- Supply chain competitiveness and productivity programme
This is great news for the Country, the Energy Sector and the Environment. In July 2017, only 2.2% of all new registrations were ultra-low emission vehicles, however the deal proves to enhance the government’s promise to phase out all diesel and petrol vehicles by 2030.
SOLISCO BECOMES A MEMBER OF THE RENEWABLE ENERGY ASSOCIATION

Also, here at Solisco we are excited to announce that we are now officially members of the ‘Renewable Energy Association.’
Established in 2001 as a not-for-profit trade association, the REA represents British renewable energy producers and promotes the use of renewable energy in the UK.
Their mission as an organisation is to grow the renewable energy economy and secure the best legislative and regulatory framework for expanding renewable energy production in the UK. The REA is the only UK trade body representing the full range of renewable and clean technologies.
