A few words from our CEO to close the year 2018…

Parveen Begum, CEO, Solisco
I find it quite humorous that people are always shocked to learn that “it’s that time of the year already!” – almost as though they didn’t know it was coming! I’ve heard that phrase so much in the last few weeks and I’m pretty sure it’ll be the same story next time. It is therefore quite satisfying that these last few weeks for us have been really exciting and filled with momentum and purpose. It gives me great pleasure to have put some time aside to highlight what a buzzing year it has been for Solisco.
A pivotal year for our industry
There is no doubt that 2018 has been a pivotal year for the electric vehicle, solar, battery and charging infrastructure industry. Already at the beginning of the year, the government announced they have agreed a landmark sector deal, which will establish the UK as ‘World Leader in Future Mobility’.
Business and Energy Secretary, Greg Clark said “In the next 10 years, the sector will see more change than in the previous hundred. From the engines that power our cars, to the way we control them and our attitudes to owning them, technology is changing what the industry looks like and where money can be made.”
Solisco agrees with Greg’s comment completely as we’ve already seen the industry in full swing. We are excited to be an integral part of the transition.
UK Public Sector
Having established some great relationships with key government personnel, Solisco began our commitment in helping the UK public sector, starting with roundtable meetings and engagement with West Midlands Combined Authority, and then being invited to Manchester’s Green Summit, which lead to interesting project ideas to tackle air pollution and drive EV uptake.
In October, Solisco were announced as winners of the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and Innovate UK funded competition to produce a feasibility study on EV charging in public spaces. We are gearing up with a fantastic consortium with an aim complete our project by the end of the first quarter of 2019.
Commercial Projects
In this last year, Solisco have been engaging with various sectors, from hospitality to retail, automotive to oil and gas industries as well as sustainable manufacturing companies. We have been providing our consultancy services, design and planning expertise and we really look forward to implementing some of these projects in the year ahead.
Events across the globe!
Solisco was certainly on-tour this year, attracted to some of the biggest industry events to date. It started with our all-electric road trip from central UK to Norway, to hear from the world leaders in e-mobility at the Nordic EV-Summit. We then embarked further afield to Calgary, Canada, to join the Energy Disrupters who hosted an excellent conference to unite the renewable energy industry with the oil and gas industry for the first time, bringing together ideas and creating positive synergies. We were also lucky to meet Richard Branson here too. A couple of months later, we joined our friend Robert Llewelyn at his very first Live Fully Charged Show, where we engaged with consumers and industry leaders to share our expertise and know-how.

Further Accomplishments
At the start of the year, we set out with big goals and faced our fair share of challenges too. However, the team at Solisco continued to persevere and has really accelerated their mission by bringing together innovative solutions that drives us towards a sustainable future. In the process, we are so pleased that we were able to:

Many thanks!
To conclude, we have certainly had an energetic year but it wouldn’t have been possible without the positive and proactive people who supported along the way. So many thanks to you all!
We look forward to switching off for a couple of weeks to re-energise ourselves for the year ahead. In the meantime, we wish you all a wonderful Christmas and happy new year!
